Suboxone Maintenance Therapy 

Suboxone is another alternative treatment. Suboxone is a combination of two drugs, an opiate replacement (buprenorphine) that binds to the body’s receptors and an opioid antagonist (naloxone) that, if used properly, reduces the likelihood of continued abuse. Unlike methadone, suboxone can be prescribed through a doctor’s office, which contributes to a high rate of abuse. Like methadone, patients on suboxone are not clean of drugs. They have replaced one drug for another.
